Oil prices were sliding on Wednesday after President Donald Trump said that Iran’s President had asked for a cease-fire, boosting investors’ hopes that the war in the Middle East could soon end. Brent crude international futures were down 1.8% at $102.06 a barrel in early trading, after falling below the $100 a barrel level earlier in the day for the first time since Friday. West Texas Intermediate U.S. futures were down 1.2% at $100.25 a barrel.
